It is something we never got to do when growing up but always wanted to. Money was always tight and he had to work seriously long hours to put food on the table.
He's doing a lot better now in a good shop doing restomods and other stuff for a classic car dealership, but it would be nice to build our own personal version of "The Beast" as Eric Bana and his mates did.
I'd love to do something like this and go on a road trip to an iconic race track and watch an endurance race or even get to go for a few laps ourselves on the track. It's something that's been a bit of a dream of his. He builds corvettes for customers left and right. Always was a fan of the Pratt & Miller Corvette teams at Le Mans, he would love to get to run one of those around the track for a few laps. One day hopefully.

The father of a friend of mine had at one point a chance to buy a pair of Aston Martins in the mid 80's. A DB4 and DB5. One had a wrecked drive train (engine fire) and a good interior, the other had a carp interior and a great drive train. It would have been a heck of a father/son deal. The price was considerably darn cheap but the dad's work was being bought out and he had no idea if he was going to be out of a job in a week or doing better than before. Not a time to spend a few grand. In the end he kept his job and retired at that place but lost the chance at the cars just waiting that week to find about about work...

What's the status on the old P&M cars? That would be amazing to pick up one of their old racers and restore it with your dad.
If I would get rich suddenly, I'd make it my life's work to build, from scratch, the car that would have won Le Mans in 1955; the Mercedes-Benz 300 SLR. There's only one very slight problem with that plan.

I built a Factory 5, it had a 427. Ours was styled as close to an original as possible, had some custom plexi bits made like the winglets on either side of the windscreen. I had other projects and eventually I let it go.

Coupe or roadster? About 8 years ago I helped a pal build his FFR MkIII; fun project and I really hope to build my own some day

Nice, my dad helped do the finishing touches on a Cobra kit car. Had front and rear suspension out of a BMW M car. Holy cow was that thing interesting. Can't remember the spec on the engine, but I believe it was an EFI setup.
My dad did custom stainless headers/side pipes and a bunch of other cool touches. Supposedly that customer is bringing something new to their shop soon.
Hopefully I'll get to see it while I have my Firebird in for a little tlc and replace the bubbling sail panel with a carbon fiber one I'd bought over a year ago lol!

What's sad is my dad had bought a rolling chassis of a '68 Barracuda for super cheap. Needed paint, interior work and a full drivetrain. Never had time for it and it got sold off. I was pretty sad to see it go.
Wanted to do it up in one of those classic bright Mopar colors with a pistol grip shifter lol!

Building a Factory 5 Cobra has been a dream of mine for years now. I'm dying to have the money to get a kit and throw a 5.0 in it.

Doesn't matter what you guys build, just build something. Time with your father is finite.

Agreed.
I'll get to work with him a little when I repaint my Firebird. Will probably tear it all down and have it freshly painted all around after I get the turbo build done. That way it is all nice and fresh.
I like working on clean cars lol!

My son is doing a 69 MGB Sebring, with the Rover(Buick) V8. I want to try it out after the finish it. The Fac5 was good, its probably a lot better than the original but we can't drive those!
